Anniversary of the ordination of Liz McNab

On Sunday 19th January we were delighted to welcome Revd Liz McNab to preach for us as she celebrated the 25th Anniversary of her ordination to the Priesthood. Liz had been ordained Deacon several years before, but it wasn’t until 1994 that Canon Law changed, allowing the ordination of women Priests. And so, Liz was one of the first group of 33 to be ordained at that time.

Liz took as her texts words from Jeremiah 29:11 ‘I know the plans I have for you…’ and Isaiah 58:11 ‘The Lord will guide you continually’, and shared with us her journey to ordination, and some of the many experiences she has enjoyed since. Her memories included how much has changed since she first arrived in Shetland in 1972.

After the service we enjoyed a celebratory cake and fizz in the church hall.
